Play part one as normal until you get the money and use the voodoo doll with Largo. You'll see a cutscene with the voodoo lady, and she'll give you the book about Big Whoop. After the cutscene, instead of leaving, walk back to the Voodoo Lady and start reading the Big Whoop book before the conversation starts. Choose "that's enough voodoo for me" and leave. If you've timed it right, Guybrush will still be reading the book when you leave. This will make allow you to control Guybrush during cutscenes, which is known as "item slide state". Check the second visit to Scabb Island in the video guide by LeoLitz for more information about the voodoo item slide. Now, get to the peninsula, give the monocle to Dread, get to part two, pick up the parrot chow, and talk to Dread about where to go and your choices. Be careful when skipping dialog; we want to skip Dread's lines while making sure Guybrush is still reading the book when the map of the tri-island area is shown. When that happens, immediately click on Phatt Island. To make sure it works, position the cursor when Phatt Island will be before the map is shown, and use the keyboard numbers to talk to Dread. Don't skip the cutscene after clicking on Phatt Island. Instead, wait. When done correctly, after clicking on Phatt Island, there will be a small pause, and the cursor will become visible once again. When that happens, click on Booty Island (later we'll explain why we need to go to Booty Island at this point). Now you can skip the cutscene, and the game will run six times faster.
