I use my thumb to create a bouncing, alternating bass line, much like the left hand of a ragtime piano player, while simultaneously playing the melody above it. If you’d like to learn how to play these techniques and really understand how they work, check out my guitar lesson platform at https://JustinJohnsonGuitar.com. I take you step-by-step through everything from fingerpicking fundamentals and ragtime techniques to coordinating independent bass lines and melodies, exploring open tunings, Delta blues styles, slide guitar, and so much more. And these lessons aren’t just for intermediate or advanced players! I also have comprehensive beginner lesson series designed to get you playing from day one, even if you’ve never picked up a guitar before. You can build your skills from the very basics all the way up to the advanced fingerstyle techniques I’m using in this performance. Check it all out at https://JustinJohnsonGuitar.com. Hope to see you there! 🎸 Sun, 18 Oct 2026 16:33:01 GMT https://validator.w3.org/feed/docs/rss2.html PeerTube - https://dalek.zone https://dalek.zone/lazy-static/avatars/958461d1-6a1e-41b1-962e-d8f79c4e0f1b.png https://dalek.zone/videos/watch/a9ad158a-5be5-45ca-ac9a-0a369dc67197 All rights reserved, unless otherwise specified in the terms specified at https://dalek.zone/about and potential licenses granted by each content's rightholder.
