The reason why we're visiting Booty Island first is so, when we come back later, we don't get the cutscene with Dread's ship making it to Booty Island. The invitation skip won't work if we get that cutscene. Once on Phatt Island, get out of jail, go to the library, get the books, and then go to the governor's mansion. Here we're going to setup another item slide, like we did at the Voodoo Lady's. Talk to the guard, say you broke out, and then end the conversation by telling him you're due at the manicurist's. This way, next time you talk to him, he won't ask whether you're supposed to be in jail. Now, try to get upstairs and, on the way there, start reading the Big Whoop book. Since Guybrush moves at jiffyspeed, this is tricky. You'll have to practice a little bit. Once you make sure Guybrush is reading the book while talking to the guard, choose "I think there's a fire in the kitchen". The guard will leave, and Guybrush will keep on reading the book. Go upstairs, get the pirate quotations book, and go back to Dread's ship. Click on Booty Island immediately after the tri-island area map shows up. If you do so, Guybrush will still be reading the book when you make it to Booty Island. Go to the small structure, and, in the conversation, choose "Gotta go. Keep up the good work", and Guybrush will leave. Now comes the tricky part. You've got to time it so Guybrush is done reading the book right after he starts walking towards the bottom of the screen. That way, the cursor will become visible before Guybrush leaves the screen, and you'll be able to get to the land. Guybrush will go past the guard and make it the mansion (automatically getting the dress)... sometimes. The bad news is that (as of July 2026) this trick sometimes fails, and we don't know why. The current strategy is quicksaving before getting to the small structure and quickloading when it fails. This video includes a failed attempt followed by a successful one.
