https://dalek.zone/videos/watch/65db9770-539d-40e4-aab0-5fa90687517c It rained, and the pond filled up, so I kept digging. Today is the day to finish the dam wall, because we leave for DC in the morning and the ground is only getting wetter. A dam wall is not a pile of dirt. You build it in lifts, you tamp each one down, and you do it when the ground is damp but not so damp that it sticks to the bottom of your shovel. I walk the trench, show the clay, and show the pipe I ran so I can prove where the water actually goes. The ducks are in this one, and so is something I have been meaning to say straight. They are not being grown for meat. They have a pond and shade and each other, and they spent the rain having a better day than I did. Then the trench starts filling up while I am still tamping it, and I have water in my boot. Still growing: wheat coming up, a hardy kiwi going in, and the soil out of the trench going back where it belongs.
